A simple question evolved into a project, ultimately blossoming into a hobby. Established in December of 2002 after a year of meticulous research, www.bettendorffootball.com stands as a non-profit website designed to cater to all Bettendorf Bulldog Patriots, past and present, who have either donned the Black and Gold or supported the team.
Additionally, the website aims to support the multitude of fans, alumni, and patrons who have steadfastly backed Bettendorf football throughout the years. Over seveny years since its inception, the football program's rich tradition continues to flourish, fueled by hard work, discipline, team unity, sportsmanship, and the unwavering support of the community.
To date, the Bettendorf Bulldogs boast an impressive tally of 7 Class 4A state titles along with a U.P.I. Mythical State Championship. Furthermore, the Bulldogs proudly count three Hall of Fame Coaches—Merrit Parsons, Merv Habenicht, and Randy Scott—among those who have graced their sidelines.
It is important to note that while this website operates independently of the Bettendorf Community School District, it is regarded as the Unofficial Official website of Bettendorf Football. Moreover, its primary purpose is to both archive and preserve the rich history of Bettendorf Football while actively promoting the program in a positive light.
"What a gift to finally find a place where all the Bulldog history will be saved for my kids. Of all the special memberships I've held, my beginnings as one of Merv's Bulldogs carries the most pride. Coach Lavelle and Scott's team building "techniques" have served me well in my current occupation. I will always remain a proud Bulldog!"

"This is a wonderful website! Bettendorf football has a rich history that deserves to be recorded and this site is an excellent medium to do just that. Keep up the good work!"

"To whom this may concern: Your upkeep of the history of Bettendorf football is excellent on the website. I remember visiting the site in years past when it was not as complete as it is now. I spent more than an hour looking through the site on Friday before the 2006 NS-Bett "showdown" and was very impressed on what I read and saw. The site is just as good (or better) than some of the Illinois HS sites, like JCA's, SSH Griffin, Rochelle, Geneseo. I used your comparison of the 1989 Burlington-Bettendorf game right before kickoff and had planned to talk more about the 5 Bettendorf coaches during the TV taping, but with how the game went, I just didn't get around to it. I should have attributed the information to the site, but never got around to mentioning it, as I planned to do. I certainly will mention the site on future broadcasts with the Bulldogs, whether it be radio or TV."
Pete Ivanic, Radio Announcer
"Great site. Finally found a way to keep with the Dawgs. I still remember the win in '78 against Davenport Central. Great memories, great times."
Terry Horner, Class of 1979
